Aaryan Sigdel

Aaryan Sigdel (Nepali आर्यन सिग्देल Born as Harish Sigdel on 5 August 1984) is a Nepali film actor who has appeared in Nepali language films. He is known for his good looks and spontaneous acting.
Aaryan Sigdel debuted in Kismat and then played a lead role in a romantic lovestory Mero Euta Saathi Cha, as a young royal spoilt brat. The film was highly inspired by the Korean hit A Millionaire's First Love. His portrayal of Jay Shamsher Junga Bahadur Rana was highly appreciated and generated lots of fan-base for him. His character in this film is said to be one of the best male character ever depicted in Nepali silver-screen.

Early life

Born to a Hindu priest family in Dhunche of Rasuwa he is the elder son of Ramchandra Sigdel and Sharada Sigdel. Sigdel has a sister Yasoda Neupane who is currently based in Australia. The family later moved to Thankot, Kathmandu. Aaryan started his schooling from Dipendra Police School and later passed SLC from Mangalodaya Higher Secondary School Thankot. Later he went to RR Campus to study business which he couldn't complete as he decided to enroll into acting classes.

Career

Aaryan joined the local dance troop named Trikon Kalakendra under which he performed in several functions. He then started performing in street plays. His main role in a street play called Janatako Prajatantra kindled him to pursue acting as a career. This play was organized by Pariwartan Nepal, a theater group where Sigdel took acting lessons. He later appeared in several music videos and television commercials. His portrayal of Parlee in Kantipur Television's comedy serial Houseful and Kshitiz in Nepal Television's television drama Khusi Pal Bharko gave him recognition among Nepali television viewers. He later appeared in a television talent hunt show Super Acting Competition as the host. He has a music video to his credit as the director which he directed with another contemporary actress Saujanya Subba.

After 2007

In 2007 he debuted in Kismat, opposite Rekha Thapa.[1]The movie was produced by Chhabiraj Ojha who is one of the leading film producer in Nepal. The movie also stars Biraj Bhatta. His second role was in Mausam, which became an average hit at the box office. In Mausam he appeared along with Nepali superstar Rajesh Hamal.

In 2009, his third film Mero Euta Saathi Cha was released. It was a film that made Aaryan Sigdel a household name in Nepal. Later in the year 2010 he made a hatrick by biggest hits Hifajat, First Love,The Flashback.

In 2010 his six films were released. Two of his films Kohi Mero and Bandhi did not do well where the sixth release Kasle Choryo Mero Man broke all the records at the box office. In this film he again appeared opposite Rekha Thapa. Though the rumours of fallout between the two pair is heard quite often but their pair is said to be the best onscreen pair in Nepali films.

Regarded as one of the highest paid actor in Nepali film industry his latest release K Yo Maya Ho made a good opening at the box office but later went poor as it was panned by the critics. His next release Mero Lovestory also did not do so well though critics praised his acting abilities with high regards. Both of the movies were directed by Sudarshan Thapa who directed Mero Euta Saathi Cha.

Aaryan is currently busy promoting the latest movie I Am Sorry which is releasing on February 2012.

Having a list of hits Aaryan has some record breaking box office openings to his credit in Nepali film industry. He was ranked number one actor of the year in 2009 and 2010 by Kantipur Television's Rajatpat, a poplar film show in Nepal.

News and controversies

Many times he has been criticized for being over selective about scripts in a small industry like Nepal. His dispute with co-actor Rekha Thapa has made several news on media. Recently in an award function their dispute became clear in front of people as Rekha did not take Aaryan's name while acknowledging her co-actors and technicians. And Aaryan acknowledged her while he got the award for the best actor in the same stage. Recently a film producer blamed Aaryan for being manipulative over script, co-actors and technicians. Aaryan politely denied the statement as just an another effort to damage his image but later the producer apologized to Sigdel in a meeting held by Film Development Board of Nepal.

His regular visit in discothèques and parties has made several news quoting him as alcoholic. He has openly accepted his drinking habit in media but denied himself as alcoholic.

He escaped a deadly car accident during the shoot of Kasle Choryo Mero Mann which made several headlines.
